In Wisconsin, four police officers sustained injuries early Saturday when a vehicle drove into a crowd of people. The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. in the vicinity of a food truck.
Green Bay Police Department officers were addressing a disturbance when a car moved toward both bystanders and officers. In response, an officer discharged their firearm. The suspect fled, leading the police on a brief chase. Officers used a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver to halt the driver’s vehicle.
Police Chase and Arrest
The driver was apprehended without incident on suspicion of driving under the influence. The PIT maneuver was crucial in ending the chase safely, preventing potential harm to others.
The four injured officers received medical attention. Their injuries are not life-threatening. No injuries from the gunshot have been reported.
Investigation Underway
Green Bay Police Chief Chris Davis revealed at a news conference that it’s unclear if the driver was connected to the disturbance at the food truck. Some officers were injured prior to the vehicle entering the crowd, while attempting to detain individuals.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office will work alongside the department to investigate the shooting that involved police personnel.
