San Francisco 49ers owner and CEO Jed York encountered legal problems following his arrest in East Palestine, Ohio. He faced accusations related to ‘engaging in prostitution’ and ‘possessing criminal tools.’ These charges were amended to misdemeanors for disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools according to court documents. The Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office verified York’s booking on Sunday morning, noting his release that afternoon on a $5,000 bond.
York’s arrest took place at Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community, a local trailer park. The East Palestine police suggested contacting the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force for more details, though the task force has yet to respond to requests for information.
On Monday morning in Columbiana County Municipal Court, York pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor charges under a plea agreement from the prosecutor. He received a two-day jail sentence, with one day credited for time already served.
Additionally, York has to pay fines totaling $1,150. As a result, he will undergo NFL discipline under the league’s Personal Conduct Policy. The NFL released a statement indicating the matter will be reviewed according to the policy.
The San Francisco 49ers have chosen not to comment further on the situation, stating that the legal issue has been resolved. York has been the majority owner since 2024, and he previously held the CEO role. He hails from Youngstown, Ohio.
York appeared publicly during pregame warmups before the 49ers’ game against the New York Giants at Levi’s Stadium in September 2023. The organization is not seeking additional media attention regarding the situation.
