President Donald Trump is advocating for Muslim-majority nations to participate in the Abraham Accords in connection with negotiations around a new Iran agreement. The accords focus on establishing diplomatic relations between Israel and various Arab and Muslim-majority countries.
During a recent phone call, Trump pressed leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Pakistan, Turkey, and Jordan to formalize relationships with Israel. He emphasized that, given the extensive efforts by the United States to manage ongoing complexities, it should be mandatory for these countries to join the Abraham Accords collectively.
“I stated that, after all the work done by the United States to try and pull this very complex puzzle together, it should be mandatory that all of these Countries, at a minimum, simultaneously, sign onto the Abraham Accords,” Trump noted on Truth Social.
Following Kazakhstan’s announcement of interest, Trump shared plans to engage with leaders from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain. These countries were pioneers in signing the accords back in 2020. Trump hinted that Iran might eventually become part of the accords.
Trump envisioned that several leaders would welcome the inclusion of Iran once the agreement is finalized.
“In speaking to numerous of the Great Leaders mentioned above, they would be honored, as soon as our Document is signed, to have the Islamic Republic of Iran as part of the Abraham Accords. Wow, now that would be something special,” he stated on Truth Social.
Current U.S. and Israeli officials anticipate that the UAE will delay any actions related to this issue until after Israel’s elections in September.
