Chicago Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong delivered a memorable performance at Busch Stadium on Saturday night. His efforts were a highlight in the Cubs’ victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.
During the top of the eighth inning, with the Cubs leading 3-1, Crow-Armstrong faced pitcher Gordon Graceffo. On a 1-0 count, Graceffo left a fastball over the plate. Crow-Armstrong capitalized, hitting his seventh home run of the season into the ‘tarps-off’ section of shirtless fans known for their boisterous cheers.
The Cardinals fans were vocal, especially the Tarps Off Crew in right field. This section gained attention during a game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates at Busch Stadium on May 21, 2026.
After the home run, Crow-Armstrong’s enjoyment was evident as he rounded the bases amidst mixed reactions from the crowd. A fan who caught the home run ball attempted, unsuccessfully, to throw it back onto the field, instead hitting another fan seated nearby.
Beyond this amusing incident, Crow-Armstrong’s performance was stellar. He went 4-for-5, including a double. His success at the plate was crucial in the Cubs’ 6-1 win.
This game marked Crow-Armstrong’s first multi-hit outing since May 8. The victory set the stage for the series finale on Sunday evening.
