Senator Graham and UFC CEO Criticize Fighter Josh Hokit’s Remarks on Michelle Obama

Senator Lindsey Graham and UFC CEO Dana White have criticized UFC heavyweight Josh Hokit for his remarks about Michelle Obama during the UFC Freedom 250 event held at the White House. Hokit provoked controversy by repeating debunked claims against Obama in his post-fight interview.

Hokit, after defeating Derrick Lewis, thanked President Donald Trump for the event. He then concluded his interview with UFC commentator Joe Rogan by saying, “Michelle Obama is a man, am I right, America?” This claim has been part of a baseless conspiracy theory targeting the former first lady.

Senator Graham expressed his disapproval on Monday, labeling Hokit’s comments as “not good” and referring to Hokit as an “idiot.” Graham emphasized that such remarks detracted from the event, aimed at celebrating America’s heritage and the spirit of sportsmanship. When asked about his immediate reaction, Graham bluntly stated, “The guy was an idiot.”

UFC CEO Dana White similarly denounced Hokit’s remarks, communicating to Time magazine that he opposes derogatory and false claims against public figures’ families. While affirming his stance on free speech, White disapproved of the comment, calling it “nonsense.”

This is a developing story. More to follow.
