Haaland’s teammate, Marcus Holmgren Pedersen, made a significant impact after entering as a substitute in the first half. Pedersen scored the opening goal at the 43-minute mark with a precise kick that outmaneuvered the Senegalese goalkeeper, putting Norway ahead 1-0.

This marks Haaland’s inaugural World Cup appearance, characterized by a spectacular debut. In Norway’s opening match, he delivered two goals against Iraq, contributing to Norway’s 4-1 triumph.
