Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino has criticized leading Democrats for prioritizing “power” over principles, stating many have distanced themselves from Senate candidate Graham Platner only after believing he has lost his electoral chances.
Bongino shared his views on “The Ingraham Angle,” stating, “There were no principles involved here at all. The left are the anti-anti-communist. They’re just against us and whatever we stand for to advance their communist agenda, and this guy was a tool that’s no longer sharp for them.”
Democrats Pressuring Platner to Withdraw
“KINGMAKER MAMDANI CALLS ON PLATNER TO ‘DROP OUT OF THE RACE’ AFTER RAPE ALLEGATION,” reported by Fox News.
Recent accusations have led to significant political fallout for Platner. Democrats such as NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Rep. Ro Khanna, Sens. Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren have taken back their endorsements or asked Platner to quit the race following a rape claim.
The campaign of Platner, struggling with the initial claim, faced a fresh allegation of misconduct, reported by the Washington Post. He was accused of removing condoms during sex after his ex-girlfriend Lyndsey Fifield expressly requested he wear them.
The claims threaten an already struggling race aiming to unseat Sen. Susan Collins.
Campaign Denial
Platner’s campaign denies these allegations, calling the second claim “categorically false and politically motivated,” as reported by The Washington Post. They have not responded to further requests for comment.
Republicans Criticizing Democrats
Dan Bongino and fellow Republicans have criticized Democrats for their quick change of stance toward Platner. According to Bongino, “This is not about any principle whatsoever. It’s not about Platner’s position on women or taxes or anything like that. This is about a simple power equation.”
He further commented that Platner served as “an acquisition tool for more power for this collectivist communist left. That is it. The sole principle in their triage of needs was power, and he was a useful tool to get there.”
