An executive of the Arizona Cardinals has been indefinitely suspended for breaching the NFL’s gambling policy. Ryan Gold, the director of college scouting for the Cardinals, faced suspension after findings that he disclosed confidential information about the team’s draft picks for the 2026 NFL Draft prior to their announcement.
An investigation by the league revealed Gold’s actions, though it did not specify to whom the information was disclosed. Additionally, Gold was found to have placed parlay bets on both NFL and college games, contravening the NFL’s strict gambling policy.
The Gambling Policy, annually reviewed with all NFL personnel, strictly prohibits anyone in the NFL from participating in or facilitating any form of sports gambling and from providing non-public information to third parties. The League emphasized that, despite the breach, the integrity of NFL games remained unaffected. It also reaffirmed that any breach of its gambling policy is treated with utmost seriousness.
The Cardinals organization acknowledged the findings and issued a statement supporting the league’s decision. They emphasized the clarity and comprehensiveness of the NFL’s policies and expressed that the incident involved only one employee.
Ryan Gold, who has served with the Cardinals for 13 seasons, was promoted to the position of director of college scouting in June 2025. His responsibilities included overseeing the daily operations of the college scouting department, evaluating draft-eligible prospects, managing scouting staff, and arranging pre-draft events.
