The U.S. intelligence services uncovered a credible missile attack plan targeting the plane carrying Mr. Trump as he departed Ankara. CBS News reported it as an exclusive story. A catering truck helped facilitate the switch between aircraft, allowing the President to secretly move to another plane.
President Trump acknowledged the dangers posed by U.S.-Iran relations, referring to himself as Iran’s “number one target” during the meeting held in the NATO summit.
The Washington Post was the first to discuss the secretive plane change operation. Some Trump administration members expressed concern about the leak of classified tactics, suggesting it might hinder future security operations for presidential protection.
Hours before leaving Ankara, Mr. Trump announced a change from the new Qatari-donated jet to the older Air Force One. He cited reasons related to nostalgia and a chance for U.S. forces to see the new aircraft. CBS News revealed that security advice led to taking the older plane.
Media captured footage of President Trump boarding Air Force One, with a catering truck prominently displayed beside the jet. Moments later, the truck departed, going to another U.S. government plane, identified by the Washington Post as an Air Force C-32A. This switch was unrecognized by the press and staff traveling on Air Force One.

The press was advised to keep window shades closed during the flight from Ankara. Mr. Trump explained this action was due to threats posed by “sleazebags” they had to deal with.
In the United Kingdom, President Trump transitioned to the newer Air Force One, provided by Qatar the previous year and retrofitted by the U.S. Air Force. He communicated with the press during an Atlantic flight toward Washington, D.C.

The Air Force confirms the plane’s security and the advanced technologies installed to meet presidential mission requirements are adequate and state-of-the-art.
