Jed York, the owner of the San Francisco 49ers, faces legal trouble after being apprehended at a trailer park on allegations of soliciting prostitution. Court documents reveal that York, who reportedly tried to solicit prostitution for $140, was charged with ‘engaging in prostitution’ and ‘possessing criminal tools’.
According to court records, his charge for engaging in prostitution was later reduced to ‘disorderly conduct’. Raised in Youngstown, Ohio, York received a sentence of one day in a Columbiana County jail and paid a criminal fine amounting to $1,285.
Despite the unfavorable situation, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) hasn’t clarified if they intend to return York’s $2,500 donation made in June. Fox News Digital reached out to the DCCC for comments, yet no immediate response was provided. Mike Marinella, a spokesperson from the National Republican Congressional Committee, remarked on the DCCC’s refusal to refund the donation amidst the prostitution scandal.
York has a history of financially supporting Democratic figures since 2012. His donations include backing Kamala Harris’ Senate campaign in 2015, Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2016, and Rep. Ro Khanna’s re-election effort in 2024. Over the years, York has contributed more than $40,000 to Democratic candidates.
York addressed past controversies, asserting that his political stance is commonly misunderstood. In an interview discussing NFL players’ anthem protests, he expressed a preference for common sense over extreme political alignment.
In 2016, the 49ers under York voiced opposition to North Carolina’s House Bill 2, perceived as discriminatory against LGBT individuals. The organization expressed concern about the bill diverging from their values. York supported efforts to repeal it by donating $75,000.
The largest single political donation from York, amounting to $5,000, went to the America 2.0 PAC initiated by former Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Ohio, in March 2021. Additional contributions to Ryan totaled $19,400.
Fox News Digital reporter Leo Briceno, part of the congressional team, indicates York has yet to address inquiries about his donations or potential DCCC reimbursements. York, along with Rep. Khanna, have not provided immediate responses.
