Tyrese Haliburton Reflects on Knicks’ Championship Win

New York Knicks supporters remember Tyrese Haliburton all too well. He played a crucial role in ending their playoff hopes in 2024, only to repeat the upset in the Eastern Conference Finals the following year.

Haliburton faced a setback when he tore his Achilles during Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals, sidelining him for the entire last season. During his recovery, the Knicks seized the opportunity to triumph over the Spurs, securing their first title in over 50 years.

On a recent episode of Boardroom Talks with host Speedy Morman, Haliburton shared his mixed feelings about witnessing the Knicks’ victory. “When the Knicks won, my first thought was, ‘I have to turn this off,'” Haliburton confessed. Yet he decided otherwise.

“You know what, leave it on. Let me watch it. And to see Jalen celebrate with Ali, his wife… me and my wife are friends with them. I was like, that’s awesome to see,” Haliburton said.

He expressed his pleasure in seeing Josh Hart with his twins and Karl-Anthony Towns with Jordyn Woods. Nonetheless, he didn’t hide the ongoing rivalry.

“Are they our rivals? Yes… We hate each other when we’re playing, but after that, it’s love,” Haliburton remarked.

Reflecting further, Haliburton shared his conflicting emotions during the Knicks’ celebration. He experienced anger, happiness, and sadness, particularly about not being able to compete.

Haliburton concluded with a note of anticipation. He intends to return to the court, and Indiana anticipates he will be ready as the season begins. The Knicks will commence their title defense on October 20 against the 76ers, signifying a renewed intensity in their rivalry.
