The Kansas City Chiefs face challenges in maintaining healthy wide receivers on their roster. Tyquan Thornton, the team’s second-leading receiver, suffered a significant ankle injury two weeks ago against the Las Vegas Raiders. This injury is expected to keep him out for the remainder of the season.
Additionally, Rashee Rice is dealing with hamstring and knee injuries, potentially sidelining him for upcoming games. Jeff Caldwell and Jimmy Holiday have been on injured reserve since the end of August.
Currently, the Chiefs have a limited number of healthy wide receivers. Xavier Worthy has recorded 14 catches for 133 yards and one touchdown. Jalen Royals has managed three catches for 17 yards and one touchdown. Meanwhile, Cyrus Allen and Nikko Remigio are yet to make a catch this season. Given this situation, Kristopher Knox from Bleacher Report suggests that the team should pursue an upgrade at the receiver position.
Knox identifies disgruntled Cleveland Browns receiver Jerry Jeudy as a potential target for the Chiefs. He proposes that the Chiefs could offer a conditional 2027 fifth-round pick to the Browns in exchange for Jeudy. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, it is common knowledge within the league that Jeudy is available for trade.
The Browns would prefer a third- or fourth-round pick in return, though securing such compensation might be challenging,Knox wrote.
Jeudy’s performance has declined this season, with only eight catches for 81 yards in five games. With the emergence of teammates Concepcion, Boston, and tight end Harold Fannin Jr., Jeudy has been less involved in the Browns’ game plan. However, he remains a talented receiver, having made the Pro Bowl two years ago with a 1,229-yard season. His current base salary of $1.5 million for 2026 makes him an attractive option for teams mindful of their budget.
In Kansas City, Jeudy would likely receive more opportunities than in Cleveland, where he averages only three targets per game. His addition would provide quarterback Patrick Mahomes with a dependable playmaker, addressing the void left by the departure of Tyreek Hill.
