Criminal defense attorney Josh Ritter recently joined ‘Fox & Friends Weekend’ to discuss allegations of prosecutor misconduct in the Tyler Robinson death penalty case. The defense claims that prosecutors made inappropriate media comments. Ritter also commented on the backlash faced by the Metcalf family following the verdict of Karmelo Anthony.
In connection with the case, Lance Twiggs, a transgender roommate and romantic partner of Tyler Robinson, was reportedly given limited immunity for a recorded statement to authorities. This information was revealed in a new court filing. According to prosecutors, Twiggs received “use-immunity” for his April 20 statement. They plan to present Twiggs’ recorded statement and his communications with Robinson during the preliminary hearing in July.
In the Tuesday filing, prosecutors explained that Twiggs provided a statement under oath on April 20, 2026, in preparation for the preliminary hearing. Before giving the statement, he was warned about the consequences of false statements, which could lead to obstruction of justice charges. The United States Attorney’s Office and the Utah County Attorney’s Office granted Twiggs use-immunity, ensuring that his statements made during the meeting would not incriminate him.
The case involves Tyler Robinson, who was present in the 4th District Court in Provo on February 3, 2026, in relation to the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk.
This is an evolving story, with further updates expected as more details emerge.
