Amid differing media narratives, Atlanta Dream All-Star forward Angel Reese is quietly achieving one of her best seasons in basketball. On Monday, the Dream (20-12) decisively defeated the Toronto Tempo (10-22). Reese delivered an impressive 20 points with 50% field shooting and grabbed 14 rebounds. This marked her 22nd double-double of the 2026 WNBA season, setting a new franchise record for the Dream for most double-doubles in a single season.
“She IS the Double-Diva,” the Dream posted on X. “She IS at the top of her game. And she IS etched into Atlanta Dream history with the most double-doubles in a single season.”
The Dream have 12 regular-season games left, providing Reese ample opportunity to extend her record. Reese has secured a double-double in five of her last six games. At this pace, she could potentially surpass Alyssa Thomas’ WNBA single-season record for double-doubles.
Reese is currently averaging 15.8 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.7 steals. Her average of 11.9 rebounds per game leads the WNBA, positioning her to claim her third consecutive rebounds title.
Reese’s focus remains on winning a championship since her trade to Atlanta from the Chicago Sky in April. Despite individual accolades, Reese consistently states her main goal is team success. With their current standing, the Dream are well-set to make the playoffs, presenting Reese with her first opportunity for WNBA playoff experience since she was drafted seventh overall in 2024.
In the upcoming week, the Dream will face the Connecticut Sun on the road on Thursday and host the Indiana Fever on Sunday.
