The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers have a longstanding rivalry that began over a century ago. This fierce competition continued last season with three significant matchups, two of which saw the Bears, led by quarterback Caleb Williams, secure thrilling victories. These included a postseason triumph as the NFC North winner and securing the NFC’s No. 2 seed.
Tucker Kraft, a notable member of the Packers’ receiving corps, missed last season’s games due to a torn ACL in November. However, he shared his enthusiasm for the renewed rivalry during an interview with Kay Adams on Up & Adams with Kay Adams. Kraft expressed that while the opponent is less important, he acknowledges the rivalry’s resurgence.
“It doesn’t matter who the opponent is when I get the ball in my hands. I’m trying to stress the defense as much as I can, first and foremost,” Kraft stated, emphasizing his determination on the field.
He further added, “Obviously, there’s the rivalry there with the Bears. I don’t necessarily have a team I dislike more in the NFC North. I don’t like any of them, but the Bears—that rivalry has built over the last year, and I will capitalize on every opportunity I get.”
Despite playing only eight games last season, Kraft was the Packers’ third leading receiver, accumulating 489 yards and six touchdowns on 32 receptions. The team felt his absence in key games against the Bears, including the NFC Wild Card Round loss where Green Bay initially led but was outplayed by the Bears in the final quarter.
A memorable moment from that match was Caleb Williams’ decisive throw to DJ Moore for the winning touchdown. However, Moore has since been traded to the Buffalo Bills. With Kraft’s expected return and the healthy Packers lineup, many predict that the team will outperform the Bears in the upcoming season.
The Bears and Packers are set to reignite their rivalry in Week 5, with their first clash happening in Green Bay on Sunday, Oct. 11. Their second encounter will take place in Chicago on Christmas Day, with the game available to stream on Netflix.
