Ariana Grande Discusses Break from Public Life Amid ‘Eternal Sunshine’ Tour

During a concert at Chicago’s United Center, Ariana Grande addressed her decision to step back from public attention after completing her “Eternal Sunshine” tour. She explained to fans that her choice was not reactive but one she had planned quietly for some time. Grande emphasized, “things can get a little blown out of proportion,” and affirmed that her decision came from a “thoughtful and empowered place.”

Reading from her phone, she reassured fans, saying, “many things can be true at the same time.” Her comments followed an announcement from producers of Stephen Sondheim’s “Sunday in the Park With George,” revealing Grande’s withdrawal from a future role in the 2027 London production at the Barbican theater.

Additionally, recent events such as her breakup with “Wicked” co-star Ethan Slater and the release of her album “Petal” have sparked online discussions about her health and appearance. Grande had previously remarked in a 2023 TikTok video about the importance of being gentle and refraining from commenting on people’s bodies.

A representative informed People magazine of Grande’s intention to take a step back after the tour, seeking to finish it on a high note both “healthily and happily.” Further comments from the representative were not provided to The Associated Press.

Grande also addressed fans’ concerns about negativity, asserting that “negativity was ruining things” was not the case. She highlighted the importance of setting boundaries and recognizing the need for breaks, describing this phase as the greatest experience of her professional and creative life.

The “Eternal Sunshine” tour is set to conclude on September 1 in London, marking the end of her 10-night residency at the O2 Arena.
