Arch Manning Leads Texas Longhorns to Win Over UTSA

Arch Manning gave the Texas Longhorns a strong start with two touchdown passes in a game against UTSA on Saturday night. Although he helped the team to a 30-6 victory, Manning faced challenges throughout. He completed 17 of 33 passes, totaling 164 yards. UTSA defenders delivered several hard hits before he left the game in the fourth quarter.

The Longhorns improved to a 3-0 record but will soon face tougher competition in the Southeastern Conference. They will travel to Knoxville next week to confront No. 15 Tennessee. The Volunteers demonstrated strength with a 42-9 win over Kennesaw State, matching Texas’ record.

Cam Coleman made his mark with two touchdowns. His first came after an interception by Rasheem Biles, setting the tone early. His second touchdown was a skilled leaping catch in the end zone, increasing Texas’ lead to 17-3 in the second quarter.

Running back Derrek Cooper celebrated a touchdown run in the second half, broadening the lead. Gianni Spetic added three field goals, and Texas held a 23-6 advantage entering the final quarter. Derrick Cooper, a freshman, scored his first career touchdown late in the game.

Manning’s initial success gave way to difficulties, including missed opportunities and overthrown passes. He endured punishing hits, one of which dislodged his helmet during the second quarter. Despite his struggles, the Texas defense maintained its robust performance, allowing only 143 yards and preventing UTSA from scoring touchdowns.

These achievements followed a strong second-half display against Ohio State, leaving Texas confident as they move forward into conference play. Next Saturday, UTSA will host Colorado State.
