French tennis player Arthur Gea quickly left the court during his first-round match at the French Open. This occurred on a Sunday when he made an urgent request for a bathroom break.
Gea, who entered the tournament with a wild-card, was playing against Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov. At this moment, Gea was behind 4-2 in the first set. Feeling unwell, Gea asked the chair umpire for a bathroom break. He stated he felt unable to move further, fearing an accident on the court.

The usual policy on bathroom breaks permits them only between sets. Despite this, officials approached Gea to inquire about a medical reason for his request. Gea explained he was experiencing “diarrhea” and felt “sick.” A trainer later confirmed Gea’s “stomach problems.”

The pleas didn’t initially stop the game. However, after a point was played, Gea quickly left for the locker rooms. Post-match, he revealed the umpire permitted the break for medical reasons, along with medication to help ease his stomach issues. Gea mentioned he wasn’t feeling ill the night before but began feeling sick in the morning.
Ultimately, Gea faced an early exit, losing to Khachanov in straight sets.
