Barbara Bush, former first daughter and daughter of President George W. Bush, made a financial contribution to the Lone Star Rising PAC, which supports Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico. This contribution comes at an important time for GOP efforts to maintain control of the U.S. Senate.
Barbara Bush donated $2,500 to the PAC, which is significant because it is one of the main sources of outside funding for Talarico’s campaign, as reported by Houston Public Media. While the amount is smaller compared to donations from others, like The Eagles’ Don Henley who donated $150,000, Texas campaign finance expert Andrew Cates noted that Bush made her donation publicly. She chose to donate to a PAC, thereby revealing her identity, rather than a 501(c)(4), which would have kept her contribution anonymous.
Barbara Bush is currently an executive at the NBA, where she holds the role of vice president of social impact and inclusion. Her responsibilities involve using basketball as a means to support social justice, health equity, and sustainability projects globally. In addition, she co-founded the Global Health Corps, which aims to engage young people in solving health issues worldwide. Alongside her sister Jenna Bush Hager, she has co-authored children’s books.

The George W. Bush Presidential Center offered no comment regarding the donation. FOX News Digital attempted to contact both former President Bush and Barbara Bush through the Washington Speakers Bureau for comment, but received no response.
James Talarico has criticized substantial financial influence in politics, targeting figures like Senator John Cornyn and opponent Ken Paxton. Despite his stance, Talarico recognizes the need for campaign funds and does not rule out the involvement of PACs, according to the Texas Tribune.
