A brush fire erupted in the Burbank hills on Saturday afternoon, prompting a rapid response from the city’s police and fire departments. Authorities arrived at the scene near the intersection of Wildwood Canyon and Harvard Road around 3:20 p.m., responding to the blaze that threatens parts of the community.
The fire, referred to as the Walnut fire, was burning close to DeBell Golf Club and Wildwood Canyon Park. Due to the proximity of the blaze, areas immediately nearby have been evacuated to ensure public safety. This includes key local landmarks such as the DeBell Restaurant and Golf Course, as well as the Stough Canyon Nature Center. Additionally, all hiking trails in the area are closed until further notice.
The Starlight Bowl concert scheduled for August 8 is another casualty of the fire, with city officials announcing its cancellation in a statement on the emergency. The fire has managed to spread over approximately 20 acres, as reported by officials working to contain the situation.
