The Buffalo Bills are addressing various issues with their new stadium in response to recent criticisms. These concerns include obstructed sightline issues, which the team is handling on a case-by-case basis. The announcement came on Monday, following the team’s annual Blue and Red practice, where fans got their first full experience inside the $2.1 billion Highmark Stadium.
Despite the team stating that most feedback from this event was positive, some complaints arose from less than 1% of personal seat licensing holders. A significant issue was the obstructed views in some seats, as photos circulated on social media highlighting the problem.
One particular photo taken by The Associated Press showcased seats not intended for sale during football games. These seats, located in the last row of Section 417 towards the stadium’s northwest corner, had their view partially blocked by the press box’s outcropping. However, these seats might be available for other events like concerts, where the view would not be obstructed.
Additional photos depicted seats with views obstructed by railings and staircases. To address this, the team provided prospective ticket buyers with a virtual tour of the stadium, displaying the view they could expect.
The team is committed to reviewing each complaint and plans to use the next six weeks to make necessary refinements. This period leads up to the Bills’ regular-season home-opener against Detroit on September 17. Before the season starts, the Bills will host two preseason games, beginning with Carolina on Saturday.
The stadium’s design takes inspiration from the Premier League Tottenham Hotspur’s home, which accommodates NFL games in London. Bills owner Terry Pegula was impressed by the design, noting that it features very few poor viewing areas. The Bills intend for the same to be true for the 60,108-capacity Highmark Stadium.
