The NHL is introducing its first-ever 84-game regular season schedule, set for release on Thursday. As eyes turn to the future, the Carolina Hurricanes continue to savor their recent triumph. Their victory is highlighted by none other than the iconic Stanley Cup.
Carolina Hurricanes forward William Carrier recently enjoyed his time with the Cup, transforming it into a vessel for poutine, a beloved dish from Quebec. Poutine combines golden-brown French fries with brown gravy and cheese curds, celebrated for its simple yet flavorful combination.
“Poutine is comprised of golden-brown French fries topped with brown gravy and cheese curds,” said the team, “It’s a classic Canadian favorite.”
A video shared by Phil Pritchard, the Keeper of the Cup, showed Carrier preparing poutine in the bowl of the Cup. Lining the bowl with parchment paper was a noticeable step, ensuring both easy clean-up and hygiene. This is crucial, considering the Cup’s storied history, which includes unconventional uses during celebrations.
Carrier’s recent victory marks his second Stanley Cup win, following his previous triumph with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2023.
The practice of using parchment paper is a wise precaution, especially given the varied uses of the trophy over the years. Still, Carrier’s love for poutine and attention to cleanliness reflect the Hurricanes’ joyous celebration of their achievement.
