Craig Carton Criticizes Pablo Torre’s Report on Tim Tebow and Life Surge

Craig Carton recently criticized investigative reporter Pablo Torre for focusing on Tim Tebow in a report about Life Surge. Torre claimed that the Christian-focused organization used Tebow as part of a business model that pressured individuals to spend thousands without returns. Carton, while acknowledging Torre as a “brilliant investigative reporter,” disapproved of the link established between Tebow and the alleged conduct without proof of Tebow’s knowledge.

Tebow, in response, announced that he is “pausing” his association with Life Surge. He expressed concern over the allegations, describing them as serious, and emphasized the importance of understanding the facts. Tebow stated, “We’re having our team do an investigation, but also pausing our relationship until we can learn more about the facts.”

Mother Jones, collaborating with Torre, reported that Tebow participated in 20 Life Surge events between 2024 and 2025. He was also scheduled for similar engagements in 2026. Carton, however, criticized Torre for allegedly using Tebow’s name to advance his own career. He stated, “You’re using Tim Tebow’s name and popularity to further your own story.”

“That would be awful if that’s happening. But how dare you sully the name and reputation of a man who has only done things for others? A man that has dedicated his life to service of his Lord.”

Carton argued that Torre’s report forced Tebow to issue a statement, impacting his public image. He emphasized, “When you go down that road and you sully the reputation of somebody who’s dedicated his entire life to service, that is a slippery slope that I want no part of.”

Carton concluded by urging Torre to ensure the accuracy of his allegations, underscoring the consequences of associating someone’s name with unverified claims.
