Dak Prescott, known for his reserved nature, navigates the complexities of being in the public eye as the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. Earlier this year, the intersection of his private and public lives became evident when news surfaced about his canceled engagement, turning into a topic of public discussion.
On Thursday, Prescott spoke about the issue, opting not to disclose all details regarding the end of his engagement to Sarah Jane Ramos, including the reasons and who initiated the split. He expressed regret that this private matter gained public attention and cautioned against believing all ensuing rumors.
“Yeah, I mean, I don’t necessarily think it was public to me,” Prescott told reporters, according to the Dallas Morning News. “Once again, I believe what you take in, what you read, what you look up, you’re doing that to yourself. There were a lot of false narratives out there on both of our sides. That was very unfortunate. Unfortunate for me, but somebody who’s been [dealing with the media] and knows how to [handle] it … And unfortunate for her.”
The engagement started in October 2024, and the couple had two daughters together. They planned an April 2026 wedding in Lake Como, Italy. The engagement was called off five weeks before the wedding. A representative stated that the decision was mutual, and both remained committed to co-parenting, with both parties described as “heartbroken.”
TMZ reported that underlying issues had existed for months and tensions peaked during a joint bachelor and bachelorette trip to the Bahamas. Details of who ended the engagement remain speculative.
Prescott’s priorities include his role with the Cowboys and his responsibilities as a father. His daughters, Margaret Jane Rose Prescott, born in February 2024, and Aurora Rayne Prescott, born in May 2025, significantly impact his life perspective.
Margaret’s birth shifted his focus toward family. “That’s who I want to win for,” Prescott emphasized. He wants his daughters to view him as a champion both on and off the field.
Despite personal challenges, Prescott remains firmly dedicated to his family and football, incorporating his daughters into his training camp experiences, creating lasting memories for them.
