Protest Against Driverless Cars
On the morning of October 6, a truck supporting Waymo parked outside the John A. Wilson Building. It was part of a protest against proposed legislation to legalize commercial robotaxis in Washington, D.C.
Numerous union leaders, ride-hailing drivers, and activists rallied on the steps of the city’s iconic city hall. Their collective message was clear: prevent the legalization of driverless vehicles in the city.
The demonstrators chanted, emphasizing their stance with slogans like “Robotaxis don’t vote; we vote!” The protestors voiced concerns over job security and accountability related to the introduction of autonomous cars.
