Election Day Highlights: Gronkowski Encourages Voting, Key Races Underway

New Hampshire voters were greeted with a familiar face this Election Day, as former New England Patriots star Rob Gronkowski made an appearance at a polling site in Bedford. Joining him was his longtime girlfriend, Camille Kostek, as well as New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte. Gronkowski emphasized the importance of voting, regardless of party preference, and interacted with fans by signing memorabilia and taking photos.

In battleground Michigan, former Republican Congressman Mike Rogers voiced optimism in his Senate race against Democrat Abdul El-Sayed. Rogers commended Democratic Rep. Haley Stevens for her endorsement, which he suggested put country before party. Meanwhile, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chair, Suzan DelBene, is closely monitoring voting in New York’s 17th Congressional District amid voting machine issues, as Democrats aim to flip the House.

Elsewhere, the high cost of gas, reaching an average of $4.14 per gallon, has become a pivotal issue for voters this midterm Election Day. This price spike represents a 46% increase since the start of the year, driven in part by global conflicts. Despite previous fluctuations, prices have stayed relatively high, affecting consumer sentiment.

Ohio Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton criticized a campaign ad from her opponent that featured her estranged mother, labeling it as crossing a line. Acton stressed the diversity of Ohio’s electorate, noting the state’s role as a microcosm of national demographics.

In Florida, voter turnout is trending similar to the 2022 midterms. However, Democratic-leaning counties are reporting higher turnout compared to their Republican-leaning counterparts. Redistricting efforts by Republicans could impact some of these dynamics.

Across the US, voting commenced in all 50 states, while the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency opted not to hold media briefings, breaking with recent tradition. This change follows reductions in CISA’s staffing and funding in the previous administration, though efforts have resumed under current leadership.

Suzan DelBene predicted that the 2026 election would mark a decisive end to the Trump era, as Democrats seek to secure a strong House majority. Meanwhile, in response to various challenges, voters across the US continue to turn out, underscoring the urgency and importance tied to this Election Day.
