A new film, “Tony,” seeks to portray Anthony Bourdain’s early years as a teenage cook in Provincetown, Massachusetts as a time filled with hope, rather than the start of a downward spiral.
According to a “deluxe” edition of Bourdain’s memoir, “Kitchen Confidential,” annotated by the esteemed chef himself, the film draws from approximately 50 pages of content. These sections provide insight into pivotal moments in his culinary journey.
However, the number of pages decreases further if the period at the Culinary Institute of America is excluded. This phase is mainly mentioned in passing in the film directed and written by Matt Johnson.
