For several weeks, Gordon Campbell, a resident near Glasgow, Scotland, experienced a puzzling issue of vanishing milk deliveries. Seeking answers, he installed a security camera to uncover who was behind the missing bottles.
Upon reviewing the footage, Campbell discovered a surprising culprit. A young fox was helping itself to the milk left on his doorstep. This has been happening for about a month. Initially, Campbell suspected a human might be responsible for the thefts.
He jokingly suggested it might be a “militant vegan” until he found out the true identity. “I thought it was a person or an animal,” Campbell explained, ruling out magpies, which he had initially blamed due to their intelligence.
Campbell set up a test to catch the perpetrator in the act. He positioned a spare bottle of milk and a camera outside for surveillance. His plan successfully captured the fox in action, taking the bait just after 2:30 a.m. on July 20.
Finding the situation amusing, Campbell remarked on the fox’s “cute appearance,” forgiving it once seeing its features up close. Although he had previously halted his milk delivery service due to the thefts, he is contemplating resuming deliveries with the addition of a protective box to secure the bottles.
Interestingly, this was not the fox’s first visit to Campbell’s property. A few months earlier, his cat named Bruce had chased another fox away that attempted to enter through a cat door.
