Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is optimistic about Tony Romo’s ability to navigate the complications arising from his recent arrest. Romo, former Cowboys quarterback turned broadcaster, was arrested in Wisconsin for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possessing an open container of alcohol.
In a discussion with KDFW Fox 4, Jones expressed his support. “I love him,” Jones remarked, emphasizing Romo’s character and resilience. Jones believes in Romo’s capacity to recover from setbacks, citing his history of facing challenges.
“He is a unique talent,” Jones said. “He knows how to get up when he gets knocked down.”
Romo’s arrest has captured attention as NFL training camps commence. Police footage revealed Romo, after playing in a golf championship, denying any alcohol consumption. Despite exhibiting red, glassy eyes and an alcohol scent, Romo questioned the assumption of his intoxication.
Romo declined a breath test upon his arrest, advised by legal counsel to refrain. This incident led CBS Sports to put Romo on leave, where he had served as their top NFL analyst since April 4, 2017. Former NFL player J.J. Watt will temporarily replace Romo.
During his NFL career, Romo threw for 34,183 yards, achieving 248 touchdowns and 117 interceptions, with a completion rate of 65.3%.
