A sheepdog in Southern California has become an honorary first responder. This recognition was due to police drone footage that captured the dog’s efforts in clearing a path for an emergency helicopter.
The Laguna Beach Police Department recently shared a drone video featuring officers and firefighters handling a situation in the city’s foothills. During the emergency, they were preparing a landing zone for an incoming helicopter.
While authorities worked on the ground, a diligent sheepdog took action. It began herding a nearby group of goats away, helping to keep the helicopter’s approach clear.
The drone footage revealed the dog maneuvering behind the herd, leading dozens of goats up the hillside and away from the helicopter’s path.
The camera later focused on the dog, showing it trotting across the hillside with a wagging tail after fulfilling its task.
The Laguna Beach Police Department noted on social media, “The sheepdog stepped up and helped guide a group of goats out of the way so the units could work.” They affectionately called the pup a “good boy.”
Although details about the emergency response or the reason for the helicopter’s deployment have not been publicly disclosed, the video quickly gained popularity. Social media users praised the dog, nicknaming it “Sgt. Sheepdog.” Comments highlighted the pup’s calm demeanor in guiding the goats, with some simply stating, “Hero” or “Good dog.”
