Fox News host Johnny “Joey” Jones has rejoined the United States Marine Corps. The reenlistment took place during a swearing-in ceremony at the Pentagon.
“The last job I had in uniform was to heal. The Marine Corps paid me to recover, and then I retired. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it was unfinished business,” Jones mentioned during the ceremony.
Previously a staff sergeant, Jones served eight years in the Marine Corps. He deployed twice and experienced a significant injury in Afghanistan as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician. A 2010 incident involving an IED led to the loss of his legs and injuries to his right forearm and wrists.
“If there’s an opportunity for me to serve, there’s no reason why a no-legged 40-year-old staff sergeant should be able to put the uniform on, other than these men believed it. And the goal here is to open that door for anyone else that has something left to give,” said Jones.
Jones was accompanied by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, who officiated the swearing-in at the Pentagon’s Hall of Heroes.
“I don’t think there’s a better spokesman for the Marine Corps. He understands what it’s all about—the brotherhood that exists—and explains it so the American people connect to it deeply,” Hegseth noted. “When I heard he was interested in rejoining, it didn’t surprise me. His reenlistment was an obvious decision.”
Aside from his military duties, Jones will stay on as a co-host of “The Big Weekend Show” and continue offering military insights across all FOX News Media platforms.
Jones is known for writing the New York Times bestseller “Unbroken Bonds of Battle,” which honors those who defend the United States. He also wrote “Behind the Badge: Answering the Call to Serve on America’s Homefront,” highlighting first responders and their acts of patriotism.
Jones focuses on issues impacting military personnel, having established a fellowship on Capitol Hill with the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.
