A Washington, D.C. judge has mandated that the Kennedy Center reimburse over $250,000 to jazz musician Chuck Redd. This decision follows a dispute in which Redd withdrew from a scheduled performance. The venue’s board had decided to rename the building after President Donald Trump, prompting the artist’s action.
D.C. Superior Court Judge Tanya Jones Bosier ruled on Monday that the center must pay $252,000 in legal fees and expenses. Chuck Redd, a regular at the center’s annual Christmas Eve concerts for several years, took legal action after opting out of the event due to the board’s renaming decision.
