Kelly Clarkson, the renowned singer, recently shared that she will not be introducing her children to a notable part of her career. During her last concert in Las Vegas, the 44-year-old artist mentioned that her children, River Rose, 12, and Remington, 10, are not permitted to watch her 2003 musical comedy, From Justin to Kelly.
Speaking to the audience, Clarkson humorously described the film as an ‘Oscar-worthy number’ but clarified her involvement was ‘contractually obligated.’ According to a video from Us Weekly, Clarkson expressed surprise at having to make a movie following her win on American Idol, stating, ‘Not all of us want to be Meryl Streep, we just like watching her, OK?’
Clarkson engaged in a lighthearted conversation with a fan who defended the film, playfully suggesting that they viewed it with ‘loving eyes.’ Her view, however, was more critical as she labeled the movie as ‘s—.’
Her candidness extended to her children as well. Clarkson admitted her decision to ban them from watching the film, citing her critical view of that project.
Despite her criticisms, Clarkson acknowledged there were enjoyable moments, especially the musical aspects. She remarked, ‘The music part, that was fun,’ encouraging a positive outlook.
From Justin to Kelly was released in 2003 following Clarkson’s win on American Idol, co-starring with runner-up Justin Guarini. The film’s storyline centers on two individuals who meet during spring break.
