Kelly Dodd Criticizes Andy Cohen Over ‘MAGA Women’ Comments on Real Housewives

Former “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Kelly Dodd criticized Bravo host Andy Cohen, claiming he was “full of s—” after his defense of featuring “MAGA women” on the show. The issue came up after Cohen was questioned on Threads about the presence of “MAGA women” in the series, especially in the “Orange County” season.

Cohen replied on Sunday, “If we didn’t showcase people with different POVs, there would be no show. Also, it’s a show about the women and their relationships, not about politics.” Kelly Dodd, however, dismissed this statement, accusing Cohen and Bravo of using conservative viewpoints primarily for ratings.

“They’re making excuses that they need points of view when I don’t think that’s true,” she said. “He doesn’t have different points of view. I think he’s full of s—.”

Dodd argued that Cohen’s comments were insincere, recalling his past critiques of conservative outlooks. Dodd believes Cohen’s recent statements indicate a concern for falling ratings and a desire to reclaim a lost conservative audience, stating that discussing politics alienates part of the viewership.

Cohen has maintained that the “Real Housewives” series is non-political, focusing on the everyday lives and experiences of women rather than political discourse, a sentiment that Dodd echoed. She remarked, “The show is not about politics. It’s about women’s lives. It’s not about politics. No one’s running for office, or no one’s talking about politics.”

Bravo and its parent company, NBCUniversal, have chosen not to comment on the controversy. Kelly Dodd herself was among those who exited the series, following controversial remarks about the COVID-19 pandemic and her perceived ridicule of the Black Lives Matter movement. Annemarie Wiley, another former cast member, also experienced a similar fate reportedly due to her conservative views, leading to her absence from “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”

Despite boasting about Bravo’s success as a leading entertainment network for female audiences, recent seasons of the “Real Housewives” franchise have seemingly faced declining ratings. The network aims to balance maintaining diverse perspectives with entertainment, amid these challenges.
