The Kentucky Wildcats managed to outdo themselves, securing another dramatic overtime victory—this time against the No. 10 LSU Tigers. Last week, they clinched a game against South Carolina with a daring two-point conversion, and this week, they repeated the feat. The Wildcats topped the Tigers 35-34 in a thrilling match.
Quarterbacks Sam Leavitt and Kenny Minchy led the scoring with 275 and 246 passing yards, respectively. The teams were tied at 27-27 by the end of regulation, pushing the game to overtime with LSU starting off strong.
LSU’s drive opened with a 10-yard pass followed by a 15-yard score by Leavitt. A successful extra point kick extended their lead to seven points. Kentucky replied powerfully. Running back CJ Baxter’s 1-yard rush tied the game as the Wildcats kept their offense on the field for a decisive two-point attempt.
In a tense moment, both teams took timeouts. When play resumed, LSU anticipated a pass, but Minchy found a clear path to the end zone, clinching the win. This win made Kentucky the first FBS team to win consecutive overtime games by a single point.
The victory marked a significant achievement for Kentucky and coach Will Stein, showcasing successful high-risk decisions two weeks in a row.
