Uncertainty Surrounds Livestreaming of Nidal Malik Hasan’s Execution

President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that he has not yet decided about a potential livestreaming of the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan. Hasan, a former Army major, was convicted for killing 13 people and wounding 32 others at Fort Hood in 2009. The Pentagon had informed Fox News Digital earlier about the scheduled execution set to be livestreamed on December 3.

Trump addressed the issue during a discussion at the White House, noting the seriousness of Hasan’s actions. While he acknowledged the possibility of either showing or not showing the execution, he emphasized the potential impact it could have on deterring similar acts. “I’ll make a decision, ultimately,” Trump stated, mentioning that he is aware of military preferences but will ultimately make a decision.

Previously, Trump had given approval for the use of an Army firing squad as recommended by War Secretary Pete Hegseth. This approval and discussion emerged in response to a question about the possibility of livestreaming the execution.

Trump, during an interview following a rally in Syracuse, clarified his non-involvement in the decision to livestream but acknowledged the military’s intent to use the execution as an example. Vice President JD Vance expressed uncertainty about the livestreaming decision and mentioned that he would not watch it if it occurred.

The execution of Hasan, if carried out, would mark the first military execution since 1961 and the first by firing squad since 1945.
