On Friday, LeBron James concluded his widely-followed free agency by choosing to become part of the Philadelphia 76ers. This move places him in a team recognized for its illustrious NBA history, with legends like Allen Iverson.
Earlier this week, Iverson appeared on ‘The Stephen A. Smith Show’ to discuss topics including James’ decision to come to Philadelphia. Iverson expressed his joy at James’ choice, stating, “Just ecstatic, man. You know I’m just happy for the city of Philadelphia. For the team, you know what I mean? The type of player he is, the type of person he is. I’m just happy, man. He brings a lot, you know what I mean? He really is the answer.”
James recently wrapped up his eighth and concluding season with the Los Angeles Lakers. The 41-year-old star opted for the 76ers over teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and Golden State Warriors. He agreed to a two-year contract at a veteran-minimum of $8 million. Now entering his remarkable 24th season, James will play alongside a skilled lineup including Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe.
Iverson emphasized the high expectations for the 76ers with James aboard, saying, “He just boosts the percentage of any team having a chance to win a championship. He’s one of them ones, man. You know what I mean? He’s The King for a reason.”
