Comedy at Footlight Players
Leslie Kimbell, known for her “Four Old Broads” plays, presents a delightful new installment. The Footlight Players at 1705 Franklin St. in Michigan City will host “The Miss Magnolia Senior Citizen Beauty Pageant.” Performances are at 7 p.m. from Thursday to Saturday, June 11-13, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 14.
Directed by Leslie Evans, the play centers around Martha Parcell, who is determined to win the 7th Annual Miss Magnolia Senior Citizen Beauty Pageant. Her plans get complicated by characters like Beatrice, Eaddy, Imogene, and Maude. The play features a series of amusing events, including a tambourine-playing squirrel, an octogenarian with a Christmas obsession, competing Elvis impersonators, and a botched spray-tan.

Live in the Ville Festival
The Hessville area in Hammond will come alive with the “Live in the Ville” festival at Hessville Park from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, June 12 and 13.
The music lineup features Dick Diamond and the Dusters at 7 p.m. on Friday and Chronic Flannel at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Festival admission is free. Activities include magic shows, face painting, food trucks, live wrestling at 6 p.m. on Saturday, and a character parade at 7:30 p.m. that night.

The Beauty of Flight and Art
The Artists Guild of Valparaiso will host a closing reception for “The Birds of the Heir” exhibit, inspired by author Leena J. Byrd. Her memoir, “The Beauty of Flight,” was released in March. The reception and book signing will take place from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, at 255 Indiana Avenue in downtown Valparaiso.
The exhibition features 17 artists showcasing bird-themed works inspired by Leena’s essays. Visitors can experience a blend of literature and visual arts. This free event offers a thought-provoking journey.

Buddy Holly Tribute Concert
Zachary Stevenson will return to the Theatre at the Center for a Father’s Day tribute to Buddy Holly at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts in Munster. The two-act show will feature hits like “That’ll Be the Day” and “Peggy Sue.”
Stevenson emulates Buddy Holly with skillful guitar playing and vocals. His performance includes signature dance moves and the iconic hiccup.
