Lionel Richie Experiences Health Issues Leading to Hospitalization

Lionel Richie, aged 77, was hospitalized in St. Louis on Monday following a concert at The Muny in Forest Park. Details of the hospitalization remain unclear. Previously, Richie encountered several health issues over the summer that led to the cancellation of various shows.

In July, Richie assured his fans he was on the mend after experiencing a dizzy spell that forced concert cancellations. He expressed gratitude online, saying, “Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love. I’m doing well, and I’m grateful for all of you.”

The incident in St. Louis follows an earlier health scare in Minnesota where Richie became dizzy during his tour-opener. This resulted in the postponement of shows in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio, as advised by his doctors. The United Center had announced that these concerts would not proceed based on medical recommendations.

A public information officer from the St. Paul Fire Department confirmed to Fox News Digital that an individual was transported from the Grand Casino Arena to a local hospital on June 24, 2026, by Saint Paul Fire-EMS.

During a performance at the Grand Casino Arena, Richie paused while singing “Dancing on the Ceiling” to inform the audience he felt lightheaded. He took a seat before jokingly advising, “When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your a– down.”

Lionel Richie has been a judge on “American Idol” for nine seasons, contributing his expertise to the celebrated show.
