Vice President JD Vance addressed a rally in Michigan, targeting Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed for his comments related to Vance’s wife. Vance urged El-Sayed to focus on policy issues instead.
During the event in metro Detroit, organized by MAGA Inc., Vance remarked, I actually think that the people of Michigan think it’s kind of weird when you talk about another guy’s wife.
He encouraged El-Sayed to prioritize public policy discussions, especially those affecting Michigan’s auto workers.
A confrontation arose after El-Sayed commented online about Usha Vance, the vice president’s wife. Critics perceived the comments as targeting her Indian heritage. El-Sayed clarified, stating he questioned Vance’s implications about American identity and immigrant families.

Vance stated, critiquing El-Sayed’s earlier support for granting driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants.
Though differing on immigration, both Vance and El-Sayed agree tariffs could benefit American industry. El-Sayed’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment.
