NFL analyst Michael Robinson has issued an apology to Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. This came after Robinson’s comments sparked backlash, questioning Hurts’ injury and dedication to the team. The remarks came amid a challenging period for the Eagles and concerns about their star quarterback.
Robinson took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express his regret. He acknowledged his mistake, stating, “My official apology to @JalenHurts @Eagles and the entire fanbase. My comments were wrong. No excuse,” he wrote.
“I want to sincerely apologize to Jalen Hurts, his family, the Philadelphia Eagles organization, and fan base for my comments last Thursday. They were unfounded and I never should’ve speculated on a health issue of a player nor his commitment to his team,” Robinson elaborated in a separate statement.
The apology follows Robinson’s earlier remarks made on NFL Network’s “NFL GameDay Kickoff.” He suggested that Hurts might be using his health concerns to avoid scrutiny during the Eagles’ disappointing season start. This suggestion caused controversy due to the medical nature of Hurts’ absence, not a typical football injury.
The Eagles initially announced Hurts would miss the Week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers, as doctors found a blood clot in his calf. On Monday, a more alarming diagnosis was shared, involving deep vein thrombosis and blood clots in his lungs. The team and Hurts’ agent assured he was clinically stable and expected to fully recover.
This new information sheds different light on Robinson’s earlier comments. Speculating on a player’s medical status without verified details bears significant risks, especially if questioning their dedication and professionalism.
