Republican officials have communicated with Tom Kean Jr., who has not been present in Congress for several weeks. Although his voice has been heard, his exact location remains unclear.
Kean reconnected with political leaders in New Jersey after a nearly 12-week absence due to an undisclosed medical condition. This period has coincided with a critical re-election campaign.
Carlos Santos received a call from Kean at 4:52 p.m. on Thursday. Shortly after, Joe LaBarbera’s phone also rang. In their conversation, Kean expressed his need for prayers.
Santos described Kean as sounding positive during the brief call. “He sounded healthy and excited to rejoin the campaign,” Santos said.
Both Santos and LaBarbera mentioned that Kean expects a full recovery. However, Kean has not disclosed the specifics of his medical condition.
