The Kennedy Center’s orchestra opened its season at the Music Center at Strathmore, located in North Bethesda, Maryland. The event marks the beginning of a series of performances at new venues.
During the opening-night program, National Symphony Orchestra music director Gianandrea Noseda conducted the ensemble. The audience at this suburban Maryland venue, situated just beyond the Capital Beltway, gave a standing ovation even before the first note was played.
Due to President Donald Trump’s poor management leading to the closure of the Kennedy Center, the National Symphony Orchestra finds itself without a permanent venue. This situation has prompted the NSO to embark on at least a year of extensive touring. The orchestra will perform locally at six different venues throughout the region.
