Nationwide Recall of Pasta Due to Listeria Concerns

Pasta distributed at Walmart across the United States is being recalled over concerns of possible listeria contamination. The Food and Drug Administration announced the recall, detailing that it involves two lots of authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine from the bettergoods brand, produced by New York-based Gias Foods. The affected product is a frozen item, available in 22-ounce packages, and carries the UPC number 194346442706. The specific lot numbers are L6079C or L6080C, with expiration dates set for September 19, 2027, or September 20, 2027.

This recall was instigated on September 15 following standard testing procedures undertaken by the Washington State Department of Agriculture alongside the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. These tests indicated the potential presence of listeria bacteria in affected products. Gias Foods has noted that no illnesses linked to this issue have been reported so far.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, symptoms of listeriosis, which could appear within two weeks of consuming contaminated food, may include fever, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, seizures, and flu-like symptoms such as muscle aches and fatigue.

Gias Foods has halted the distribution of these pasta meals while an investigation continues. Customers who purchased the product are advised to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. For further inquiries, Gias Foods can be reached at [email protected].
