Authorities in Philadelphia have identified a suspect accused of terrorizing women around the city while wearing a distinctive Halloween mask. Police are urging residents to remain vigilant as the suspect may have left the state.
Police report that Zymire Hughes, age 22, has an active arrest warrant. Hughes allegedly wore a Halloween mask styled like “Chucky” while assaulting a woman. This incident occurred last Wednesday, during which Hughes reportedly chased the victim and shouted threats.
Philadelphia Police Department released surveillance footage showing Hughes approaching people in various locations. A local Dunkin’ Donuts refused him service due to his masked appearance.
A crucial moment unfolded when Hughes reportedly confronted a woman named Jameka Wilson. Wilson, trained in combat, fought back when Hughes threatened her. “He was not guarding his midsection, so she kicked him hard in the chest. He stumbled and ran,” Wilson recounted.
Authorities have noted Hughes’ connections to California and Nevada, describing him as a Black male, approximately 5-foot-8, with a thin build, wearing a white Chucky-style mask and a black/blue plaid backpack.
The Philadelphia Police Department is continuing its investigation and encourages anyone who may have information about Hughes’ whereabouts to come forward.
