President Donald Trump has voiced criticism against a Republican primary contender for an Alaska Senate seat. This controversy involves two candidates sharing the same name.
Both candidates named Dan Sullivan are contesting the position. One is the current Senator Dan Sullivan, and the other is retired schoolteacher Dan J. Sullivan. The retired teacher recently won a legal case allowing him to stay on the Alaska ballot. The current senator and his Republican supporters accused him of being a deceptive candidate backed by Democrats to create voter confusion.
President Trump urged support for the incumbent, who has served Alaska since 2015. He called the other candidate an “imposter” connected to Democratic schemes.
“ALASKA: Be careful, VOTE FOR THE REAL DAN SULLIVAN TODAY,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Through me, he’s brought HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS BACK TO YOUR STATE. The Dumocrats know how good he is and have put up an imposter of the same name.”
He further encouraged voters to choose the ‘INCUMBENT SENATOR,’ warning against what he labeled a “HOAX,” and reinforcing his call to “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”
The challenger, a retired teacher from Petersburg, denied the allegations of being a Democratic plant, explaining his candidacy stems from dissatisfaction with the current senator.
This story is currently unfolding, and further updates are expected.
