Prince Harry and Meghan’s Return to the UK

Prince Harry and Meghan are planning to return to the United Kingdom on Wednesday. They are reportedly traveling privately with their two children from California. A spokesperson for the couple stated they would not comment on their travel plans. Representatives for Harry and Meghan did not respond to CBS News’ request for confirmation.

The couple has been living in California for six years. They announced their return to Britain last week. Harry and Meghan have clarified that they do not intend to resume any royal duties. They will remain non-working members of the royal family. According to the BBC, they plan to reside in the Cotswolds, a wealthy region about two hours from London.

In January 2020, the couple announced their decision to step back from senior roles within the royal family. They aimed to achieve financial independence while appreciating royal traditions. Their departure created tension within the royal family. The couple has two children, Archie, born in 2019, and Lilibet, born in 2021. Both children are starting at a new school next week.

“This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity,” they stated.

Prince Harry lost a 2024 legal challenge regarding the downgrade of his security detail on visits to the UK. When asked last week about their future security arrangements, Prime Minister Andy Burnham stated it was a private issue for the Sussexes. He expressed well wishes for their future moves.

Recently, Prince Harry and six other claimants were ordered to pay millions to the publisher of the Daily Mail. A court deemed their claims against the paper to be highly unreasonable.
