Newly obtained photos showcase the extensive damage inflicted on U.S. positions across the Middle East due to Iranian missile and drone strikes. These images, exclusively shared with CBS News under conditions of anonymity by active service members, highlight the significant destruction of buildings and military vehicles.
This is major damage to our bases that hasn’t been communicated to the American public.
One undated image from Prince Sultan Air Force Base in Saudi Arabia depicts a Boeing E-3 Sentry aircraft after a direct hit. The impact severed its tail from the fuselage, which housed crucial midair intelligence-gathering radar.
Similarly, at Camp Buehring in Kuwait, photos reveal severely damaged buildings and barracks next to intact cement ‘T-wall’ structures. These structures, once seen as vital defenses against ground assaults, proved ineffective in aerial attacks.
The Defense Department’s inspector general recently released a report detailing war-related equipment losses totaling up to $3.7 billion, including nearly 60 aircraft. This report, a Congress-mandated first, indicates strikes on U.S. bases in several countries, including Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, and Jordan.
A service member commented on the situation:
We’re not defending these bases. We’re just watching them get destroyed.
Despite the reported losses and ongoing threats, the Pentagon has not provided a public response to these incidents.
