Sir Rod Stewart will pause his “One Last Time” farewell tour after undergoing a coronary stent procedure. A representative confirmed the decision after some show postponements and cancellations.
Stewart’s scheduled performance at Rocket Arena in Cleveland was canceled on Tuesday. This followed a Sunday show postponement at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati. The venue initially cited a need for an “unforeseen but minor medical procedure” that required immediate attention.
Earlier this year, Stewart canceled performances in Las Vegas and San Diego. His publicist stated, “Following further medical evaluation, Sir Rod Stewart has successfully undergone a routine coronary stent procedure. Doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well and has returned to his normal daily activities.”
His doctors advised him to take four weeks to recover and regain full fitness. Consequently, he will not continue his current tour dates. Information about affected performances will be communicated by the promoters and venues.
Stewart, 81, planned performances through September 3, which included a six-night residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and dates in Mexico.
In a statement, Stewart expressed, “I’m already feeling better and very much on the mend. I want to thank the doctors, nurses, and everyone who has taken such wonderful care of me.” He added that he is disappointed to miss the shows and apologizes to fans but looks forward to returning to the stage soon.
Renowned for his distinctive voice, Stewart is a revered figure in rock ‘n’ roll, with millions of records sold over decades. Famously known for songs like “Maggie May” and “Tonight’s the Night,” Stewart is a two-time inductee of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
