Spencer Pratt, a former reality TV star, responded to Governor Gavin Newsom’s endorsement of Mayor Karen Bass by calling them ‘alleged criminal partners.’
Kayleigh McEnany highlighted the controversy surrounding Mayor Bass’s program to address homelessness in Los Angeles. Reports indicate $418 million was spent with only 10% success in reducing homelessness.
Pratt criticized what he sees as corruption, specifically noting the mistreatment of dogs on Skid Row. He emphasized his commitment to making Los Angeles safer for mothers and children through his faith-driven campaign. Pratt’s mayoral bid is gaining traction, as recent polls show increased support against incumbent Bass.
As the mayoral race progresses toward a likely runoff, Bass, Pratt, and city council member Nithya Raman are actively campaigning. No candidate is projected to secure over 50% of the vote, leading to a runoff in November between the top two contenders.
Mayor Bass, endorsed by notable Democrats like Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsom, campaigned at the Yosemite Recreation Center in Eagle Rock over the weekend. She served tacos while wearing an apron stating “Common Sense and Carne Asada.” During a livestream on Instagram, Bass criticized Pratt, mentioning that electing a reality TV star to a position of power could yield negative outcomes.
Meanwhile, Pratt took to social media to critique Raman’s campaign and recent advertisements. Raman, addressing her supporters, asserted her campaign’s competitiveness despite substantial spending against her.
Pratt, best known for his role in ‘The Hills,’ has focused his campaign on criticizing Mayor Bass’s handling of wildfires, homelessness, drug addiction, and crime. Notably, the January 2025 wildfires destroyed structures, including Pratt’s home in Pacific Palisades.
Despite gaining support from various reality TV figures and celebrities, Pratt, a registered Republican, faces an uphill battle in a city traditionally favoring Democratic candidates.
